After creating your will many circumstances may occur which alters the outcome of what you planned and sometimes people are not able to update their will with every life changing circumstance. It is possible for there to be residual assets (i.e., money leftover) after all your gifts have been distributed to your friends and family, and all taxes and debts have been paid.
Create a universal residual legacy in this circumstance by indicating in your will, if anything is left over, it is to be paid to Pillars Trust Fund as the rest and residue of your estate. Any amount is appreciated and will be used for the continued efforts of supporting the English-speaking Catholic community in Montreal, through the beneficiaries who ask Pillars Trust for help.
Contact your notary if you have already drafted your will and would like to include Pillars Trust Fund in the event this circumstance happens for you. You may find a notary with the Chambre des notaires du Québec (www.cnq.org/en/) or calling 1-800-notaire, to make your wishes known. Get in touch with us if you have any questions (admin@pillarstrust.org or 514-937-2301 ext. 255)
